Terms of Service · v2.1
The agreement between you and Kin.
Effective 9 October 2026. By creating a Kin account, you accept these Terms and confirm that you have read our Privacy Policy. Separately, when you sign up, you give your explicit consent to Kin processing your health data, as the Privacy Policy describes. We've kept the language plain so you can read it once and know where you stand.
Who we are
Kin is operated by Kin Wellness AB, a company registered in Sweden ("Kin", "we", "us"). Organisationsnummer 559550-7483. Contact: hampus@thekin.ai. For privacy questions and data requests: privacy@thekin.ai.
What Kin is, and what it is not
Kin is a performance diary for athletes. You check in for a few seconds a day, by voice or text, and Kin reads that against your history and your wearable data to help you understand what drives your performance.
Kin is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. It is not a substitute for advice from a clinician, therapist, doctor or qualified coach. If something feels wrong with your health, talk to a professional. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Kin. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must consent to your use of the service on your behalf.
You agree to give accurate information when you sign up and to keep it up to date.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for everything that happens under your account. One person, one account. Tell us promptly at hampus@thekin.ai if you suspect unauthorised access.
Your data, your patterns
You own the data you put into Kin: check-ins, journal entries, voice entries, connected wearable data, everything. By using Kin, you give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that data only to deliver the product to you, generate your insights, secure the service, and improve Kin in line with our Privacy Policy.
Your check-ins, journal entries, voice entries and wearable data are health data. We process them on the explicit consent you give when you sign up, as the Privacy Policy describes. Kin can't work without that data, so withdrawing your consent means closing your account.
We never sell your data. Ever.
Clubs and organisations
When you join Kin through a club, agency, federation or pilot programme, your use of Kin is still your own and it is voluntary. Saying no, or stopping, has no consequence for you there.
Organisations only see aggregated, team-level patterns, never an individual athlete's check-ins, journal entries, voice entries or raw signals.
Commercial agreements between Kin and an organisation cannot override your control of your own data. The athlete decides.
People you choose to share with
You can give a person you choose, such as a mental coach, practitioner or agent you work with, read access to your weekly reads and the inputs behind your rings. They never see your journal text, notes or voice entries. You can switch their access off at any time from inside the app.
Research participation
Kin may collaborate with universities and research partners. Any research use of your data is opt-in only, through a separate, explicit consent flow inside the app, governed by an approved ethics protocol.
You can withdraw your research consent at any time, without losing access to Kin.
Data shared with external researchers is de-identified before it leaves our systems. Aggregated, fully de-identified statistics derived from a study may be kept after the study ends.
AI-generated insights
Kin uses AI to surface patterns and suggestions from your data. They are suggestions, not prescriptions. They can be wrong, incomplete or miss context. Use your own judgement, and check anything important with a qualified professional.
Kin does not make decisions about you. It does not select, rank or rate athletes, and it is not designed for selection, contract, medical or injury-risk decisions.
Third-party integrations
Kin connects to Apple Health and other wearable providers when you give permission. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, which apply when you use them. You can revoke any integration at any time from the Kin app or the provider's settings.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Kin for anything illegal, harmful or fraudulent.
- Impersonate someone else or misrepresent who you are.
- Try to access another user's account or data.
- Try to re-identify individuals from aggregated or de-identified data.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or extract source code from Kin.
- Scrape, copy or republish Kin's content or insights at scale.
- Disrupt or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
Subscriptions and payment
Kin is currently offered to a limited group of users. If and when paid plans are introduced, pricing, billing, renewal and cancellation terms will be shown clearly before you commit. Where applicable, your statutory consumer rights under Swedish and EU law, including the right of withdrawal, apply in full.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, cause harm to other users, or pose a security or legal risk. We will try to give notice when reasonable.
You can delete your Kin account at any time from inside the app. See Data retention below for what happens next.
If you don't accept a new version of these Terms or the Privacy Policy, you can't continue using Kin. You can delete your account instead.
Data retention
- Active accounts: data is retained for the lifetime of the account. Patterns become more useful the longer your history grows.
- Account deletion: production data is removed within 30 days of a deletion request.
- Encrypted backups: purged within 90 days of deletion.
- Research data: handled under the approved ethics protocol and your specific research consent.
- De-identified statistics that cannot be linked back to you may be kept.
Limited records may be kept where the law requires it (for example accounting or legal claims), including the record of your consent.
For full detail on what we collect and how it is processed, see the Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
Kin's platform, brand, design, code, models and content are owned by Kin Wellness AB and protected by intellectual property law. You keep ownership of the data you put in.
Disclaimer of warranties
Kin is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, uninterrupted availability or non-infringement. Statutory consumer rights are not affected.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kin is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data or use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or EUR 100 if you paid nothing.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under Swedish or EU law, including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or your statutory consumer rights.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Kin against reasonable losses arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of another party's rights through your use of Kin.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. If you are a consumer in the EU, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.
Let's try to resolve any dispute informally first: email hampus@thekin.ai. If that fails, disputes will be heard by the competent courts of Sweden, without prejudice to your consumer rights.
Changes to these Terms
We update these Terms as Kin evolves. The version and effective date at the top of this page always reflect the current edition.
Every new version is shown to you inside the app, and you accept it before you continue using Kin.
